The matter of needing a visa to enter the US is different from the matter of needing to clear customs and immigration. You don't need a visa to enter the US if you are from a visa-waiver country. You do, however, have to register online through the appropriate web site I believe every two years. Everyone entering the US from abroad must clear immigration. That's a separate matter. And, yes, I do feel these additional security provisions are useful as one of many layers involved in our national protection. Lastly, I don't think it's any better of you to tell others they have personal issues because they've criticized someone.

"and he caused much less damage to the state" Sounded as though you consider Preston Smith a great governor compared to our other governors. Never mind:shakehead:

I don't know about Europeans having to gho thru the US to catch an international flight. thatb one is new to me. However, the company i recently worked for built surgical centers and hospitals. we were contacted by a group of MD's who told us an Italian company is building an aiport big enough near Placentia to take direct flights from Europe. they are building a casinoa, hotel, condos and a golf course. they contacted us to see if we would build a hospital and clinic that would serve botht eh population as well as the locals. sounds similar to what you are describing.

That's exactly what we're talking about. The Placencia, formerly known as Zebo's, is Italian owned as far as I know and has been expanding for the last 8 years or so. They filled in a lot of swamp land and have developed a lot of nice homes there on the lagoon.
I"ve heard talk of the golf courses for the last 8 years but nothing yet. It would be great if a nice hospital were built down here.

I hate that phrase: "They filled in a lot of swamp land..."

Sorry Don. How would you like it phrased? What they did was dig canals and raised up the lots. It's pretty common on the peninsula to haul in fill for lots.

When I was flying to Belize, I had to stop in Chicago and Miami. Going all the long ways through the airport, wait, get checked, wait, go through the imigration, wait, check in my luggage, wait, ... and this @ every airport.

The guys who know me personally know, that its not even funny for me to sit in a plane, cause its all to small for me.

I go by car about eight hours from Austria to Rome, go more than 20 hours by plane to Chicago, do all this "get luggage, go through immigration, check in" stuff, fly to miami, check out and had to spend 6 hours there. I was so tired, that I called the Airline and changed the date, so that I could rest a few days in Miami, before I've done the last flight to Belize. I think I should write a book about my way to Belize, but sure I will put the Story on my new Website/Homepage :eek:fftopic:

So far, I look forward for the new Airport. Not that I wan't to leave, but some of my friends (mostly the older one's :D) say, that they would need a holiday after the holiday to relax from the flights.

I'm sure, if theres a direct flight or maybe just one time plane change, so that you can reach Belize in one day without spending a night somewhere, will make it easier for friends to visit and of course would bring more european tourist to belize - even if you don't want to have some crazy european guys like me in Belize :bonk:

That's the whole idea, so I've heard. Bring more Europeans (even if you don't tip dive masters...:D) because it's so inconvenient now, you don't come.

I always fly to and from cancun and have just found flights with mexicana that go from cancun via mexico city straight to london gatwick! and not tooo expensive. will be interesting to see what happens with the placencia airport thou.
