hi all.
I'm planning to take an open water diving course in Batangas, Philippines. however I'm not sure how to choose which resort to take the training from. Ideally one that's not too expensive, but is reputed for having dive masters who are strict with training and in getting standards right, as I'm serious about taking the advanced technical path of the sport later on. I would appreciate any recommendation to guide me in researching my options.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Naemo,

Have you considered completing your training in Subic Bay? Subic is 3 to 4 hours drive from Manila and is a wreck diving playground. Here in Subic we have more than 20 wrecks spanning over 100 years along with some great marine life and Macro.

All our Instructors are experienced and absolutely enjoy passing on all the necessary information to new divers. All our training is conducted in a safe manner and we ensure that ALL the skills are completed to a high standard. We don't cut corners, but rather work hard to produce the best divers possible.

Take a look at our website;

I look for Padi IDC or CDC centres. In essence, I look for facilities that train instructors. Alternatively you may wish to look for Tec Rec centres that train both recreational and technical divers.

For non-Padi, I apply the same principles. I look for instructor training facilities.
