"In October 2005 I drove from Phuket to Chumphon in early October and it rained all the way."

Foul!!!! Foul!!! You can't say- HE CAN"T SAY THAT!!! It's mostly sun in the rainy season, remember!!!! Can't be raining for so long. Not possible!!! Check out the- the- the- other thread!!!!!!:no

What are you on about, Anny? It takes only 5 hours to drive from Phuket to Chumphon. Also, for half that journey you're driving on the east coast from Surat Thani to Chumphon (that's the Koh Tao side). Point being in October it can be raining on both sides of the peninsular. It's a changeover month between the southwest monsoon and the northeast monsoon, so can be unsettled on both coasts. Have you any idea of the weather patterns in Thailand at all?

It is mostly sunny in the "rainy" season. Have you checked my weather blog yet? or my older weather pages on the Sunrise Divers website? It CAN rain all day once in a while, it CAN rain for half an hour, it CAN be sunny all day. But there are a lot more nice days than cr*p days. Fact.

Andy: Tigershark off Chalok? Yeah right
Was that the same day you saw that pink killer turtle at Buddha Rock?

As one other member so nicely called it: Koh Tao has "slightly more dynamic atmosphere" vs. Phuket heheh... you are gotdamnright! And have you never heard about the DPV/LSD or the Chang Naturalist speciality? Its the first steps to the Narcosis Underwater Specialist!

As the local doc at Koh Tao so often says: "The bloodwork has returned from the lab and we found traces of blood in your alcohol, I think you must relax a couple of days"

Koh Tao rules -

Bastafish,

Piss off with you're weather blog, really it's enough already. I've already conceded that rainy season means sun in Phuket. What more do you want? Let all those people on their one week holiday come out to your shop in the monsoon to take in the lovely weather. I really don't care.

And Martin, yes there was a 2 meter or so tigershark caught near Tanote bay. Why not? The water temp is perfect for them and they are sighted often on the east side of Malaysia.

Wow... never heard of that before... guess the old saying is true: "
you never know, I know you never know, but you know?" Thats the early morning version though...

I have done a number of dives on both, and honestly the worst part of both is the constant badmouthing of the other island. From my expirence there is way to many "Dive Elitists" in Thailand. Both islands have alright dives. People shoulod check them both out- not get turned off by rock star dm's... Just my opinion.
