An electronic fishing scale attached to different fish shapes might be interesting in comparing the hydro dynamic of different fish bodies. Connect the form of fish (and resistance) to its life style might interesting. open ocean versus reef fish of different lifestyles. The good news is you could get plastic toys to work with and give you some great data.

Nice thought there Rich. a few years back one of my AS students needed and idea for his capstone project so I made him test out the various designs of downrigger weights and compare them with fish shaped weights that he had to make. we used wind tunnel testing as well as towed in the water testing. he did a nice job with the data and testing phases but the paper, eh. Now his girlfriend did a terrific job on her AS capstone project testing the efficiency of small scale water driven turbine designs.
