What always gets me is the fact the stern is the smoking section on boats for a number of reasons.....1 location, 2 down wind from all......but the weird thing is that the PC non-smokers will collect there despite the dense diesel fume lurking in the air - and that doesn't seem to be a problem?
I am a smoker as well, when I light up my cigars or pipes people freak out, claiming that it stinks, it's bad for their health and stuff - yet that same person will jog downtown in the smog and claim to be healthy. The way I look at it is that we are outside, and I can smoke if I want to ..... move over if it bothers you, it's different if it's in a small enclosed space, but if there is ample ventilation (like in open air) then I/we have just as much rights.
The reason I guess the group leader was giving you the power trip was to forego any *****ing from the others and to try to keep peace, while the dive guide was not part of the group to govern.
