MAILI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities have identified a man who died while free diving off the Waianae Coast as Heber Moulton, 32, of Honolulu.

According to police, Moulton was free diving alone off Maili Beach Park Saturday and did not return as scheduled. Family then notified police and fire crews. The missing diver's body was later recovered offshore by fire department personnel.

Police said there were no apparent signs of foul play. The medical examiner's office said it plans to conduct an autopsy Tuesday.

Tragic. Whatever caused this incident, I sincerely hope could not have been prevented if this guy were not solo diving.

Solo diving and shallow water blackout never end well. I used to free dive some on vacations, not knowing of the risks.
