Hopefully it didn't look like this.
That was a different day. :(

Luckily - we only saw the bottom of that.

Gee Howard,
Looks like Lake Michigan In the warm months to 60'
could it be from when I peeded in my wet suit?
dive safe guys!

EPA divers are going to be doing some survey work up in that area this month. It looks like they picked a good time to go.

So - I hear from a friend that the algae in my pictures appears to be a fresh water algae, probably originating in Lake Okeechobee.

I also e-mailed my pictures to reef-rescue.org - to which I got a fairly quick response, and he forwarded my photos to several organizations including the EPA, NOAA, and many local media outlets (TV and Newspapers)

I cleaned up a few more photos and put them here - http://s64.photobucket.com/albums/h197/howardandmichelle/Others/Green Algae/

This Howarde E guy is starting to make waves on my 1440 acres of sugar cane. Whatsamattayou - you got something against Big Sugar?

Update on the Algae Bloom -

Received an e-mail from the Broward County Department of Planning and Environmental Protection (DPEP)

Good morning. Thanks for sending in the great photos. One of my colleagues here, *** *****, is very interested in the photos. He asked me if he could obtain the image files of these at good resolution. Also he wanted to know if he could use them in publications/presentations...(snip)...To let you all know, there have been some interest on this particular bloom and some groups are beginning to investigate it more closely. As I find out information I will let you know. Thanks again for the great shots and have a great day!

charris400:
Yeah,.... thats it. I guess he was upgrading his dive gear... he was purchasing one of those "Ariel the Little Mermaid Snorkeling Sets"

This is coming from a guy who hasn't purchased any new gear since the Carter Administration. :shakehead
