National Geographic can kiss my grits. I've got archived photos of this thing dated from 3 years back, courtesy of some obliging ROV operators.

Actually, the photos I've got look much better. Maybe I'll post one tonite.
 
Stuart Partridge from Oceaneering Inc. took the underwater shot at 1800 feet back in 2000. The other pic is of a trawl-recovered specimen from the DGoMB I cruise in June 2000.

Both critters were in the Mississippi Submarine Canyon, a really funky place.
