I am one to want things like lights and cameras tethered wherever possible to avoid any drops. Only takes a second to lose it while attaching and detaching.
I still have a SeaSoft 300 lumen rechargeable in a retractor pocket that is simple enough to attach to a BC strap when and as needed. Usually it is my back up, so little opportunity to experience any retractor annoyances.
