I'm sure this has been discussed. Ad nauseum. I DID do a search, no hits, I must have been using the wrong terms. I DID peruse the forum, spent quite a bit of time in the threads suggesting I wear my BCD onboard, and decided that I'm goofy and attention-getting enough as it is without drawing additional attention to myself. SO:
The wife and I are going on our second big dive trip. On our first trip we carried most of our essential dive gear with us, but had to check the BCs and fins because they were just too dang big. This trip was to Bonaire, where there were considerable opportunities for renting BCs and fins if they had been lost, which they were not. We had a blast.
NOW, it's six months later and we're heading out next week on a liveaboard. Different story: not as many opportunities to rent if gear is lost, and waiting for delayed baggage is a no-go. I HAVE written the charter company to see what they suggest (haven't heard back yet). But, in the meantime:
Do you guys and gals have a secret to packing everything (including the offending BCs and fins in this case) in your carry-on? We have bags in which everything will fit somewhat neatly, but we're definitely over the puny "official" sizing requirements for carry-ons. Or, do you relegate such things to the checked luggage and stick with the usual "regs, computer, mask, and snorkel" in your carry-on?
Thanks to all;
