. . . we "didn't put our orders in", I simply gave Sally a number of diners and the foods they chose to eat. This was so that she could arrange the seating and have a sufficient quantity of the selected foods on hand.

There really isn't any way that she can prepare the foods in advance.

Suppose we didnt' show up until 8? Or suppose we showed up at 7?

There are some things under discussion that may help come Srpingfest.

I think that the pre-order thing was still a good idea, but this time if we have set menu's with a few items and the sides & drinks (examples - choice of water, tea, soda in a few pitchers on the table for everyone to share) beer is extra would save time and the wait staff's energy.
Menu Examples:
1) a cheeseburger & sour cream fries with drink - $6.00
2) seafood special with baked potato & drink - $15.00
3) pick another special - $$
That way when we order it doesn't get over whelming, it is a #1, 2 or 3 and that is it. We can pre order on Scubaboard like before and just tell them when we get there what # we ordered. This will allow Sally's a heads-up on what is coming and the waitress doesn't have to quiz each person for every detail on their meal. This will save them hassle and time. It will also allow people to order/eat in a timely manner. The pitchers of H2O and what not can just be refilled when they are empty. We go to Sally's all the time and they are a small mom & pop place, everyone knows that. They have good food and are hospitable always, but in cases like this the easier and more organized we can be as a group, will make Friday night's dinner more enjoyable for all!
