Over the last couple of months, several friends of mine who are living in or have traveled to what are to me "exotic" locations, have posted photographs of their travels. I have enjoyed enormously seeing not "tourist" shots of famous places, but street scenes and ordinary people going about their lives. Some years ago, Kim did this for his neighborhood in Japan, and the threads were wonderful.

So I thought it might be fun to start a thread where folks put up pictures of where they live (if not their own home, their neighborhood) and a picture or two of where they commonly dive. And I'll start:

My home... it's a nice neighborhood but nothing special.

I do a lot of boat diving in Lake Travis.

Some Tex-Mex and good drinks while watching the sunset before heading home.

That's a beautiful view for a post-dive drink! That's one of the things I like about the site I showed -- you come up on a winter's night, and the water is perfectly flat, with the whole downtown skyline reflected in it.

Not sure this is entirely what you're looking for...but...

I've been tinkering with the timelapse feature of my GoPro 3D hero.

My first try was a drive around the block---doesn't get more local than that, eh?

I ride my bike on the Coyote Creek trail after work. Here's a time lapse of last nights ride:

Finally, during the winter I ride at night. Here are some of the critters I see:

Not sure how to get rid of the "attached" photo but...

3D Diver, your drive around the block was fun to watch. I grew up in Sunnyvale, and we used to do Sunday drives in the Los Altos hills.

Bill, you may live on a dive bum's budget, but what an incredible place to live and dive!

I live in Japan, about 30 Km from Hiroshima. The local place we dive is an Island that is about a 45 minute drive from my house.

My apartment before I moved in. It's not so neat now.

Very cool, Mitch! I've heard there is some very good diving off Japan.

Not a picture of the house (we live in an apartment condo), but these are the views out my back window. Canmore, Alberta by the way.
Resident herd of elk make a pass through about once every 2 to 3 weeks. Sadly, this buck died over the winter.

Okay, the diving.

Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park. Honestly, can you imagine a prettier dive site? A lot of Calgary area divers cut their teeth here.

Lake Minnewanka, also in Banff National Park. Lots to see and can get some nice depth. Both sites are packed with divers on weekends during the summer and fall.
