Honestly Richard, I think that one person's response was a bit of trolling. I don't see the need for gender specific forums myself. It's diving, not procreating. Or at least one would hope...I wondered the same thing, till I realized while gender-based perspective may impact how one is affected and/or color how one perceives a few issues, it's a tiny minority that are truly unique to either gender. All the more so since men at least have mothers and many have wives, sisters and daughters, and women fathers, husbands and sons, or opposite gender dive buddies.
I suspect what got the ball rolling here is the women's perspectives where a minority of posters have been perceived as resentful of critical input on topics contrary to their views, because said input came from male posters. Challenges such as 'why are you posting here' (even though it's allowed)? Trying to write off criticism as sexist rather than analyze and debate the contention on its merits. Vilifying male posters who debate some aspects of a female poster's post.
Thankfully it's a small minority.
Richard.
Elitist !How about a fat bald man's only diving forum?
