The above being said, if you take an artifact, what are you going to do with it? What are your wife/husband or kids going to do with it after you are gone?

If you take anything it is your duty to document where it came from, what it looked like (photos before, during, and after cleaning/preservation), conserving it, display it, and making sure it has a life after you no longer want/need it.

If you don’t want to do this, leave it on the bottom. I unfortunately have a friend who has a term for brass junk that divers wife’s will not let in the house – Yard Brass.

Lets all try not to have collections of anything that might end up in a pile that can be labeled Yard Brass.
