I have the Zoop and just bought the USB cable to download data from the DC. First off, $75 for a cable is ridiculous! It came with DM3, which I was anxious to use.

Unfortunately DM3 says that it cannot find the device. Downloading DM4 to test, it found the device after some jiggling of the cable (connection is horrible, cable is junk). Still DM3 cannot find the device.

Please, somebody help me here. DM4 is useless. DM3 appears to have some good functionality, but I cannot get it to recognize the device. The Zoop is not in the DC list. Could that be it?

Buyers remorse is setting in on this newbie diver. I had always heard Suunto was good, now I am not sure anymore.

Updated to 3.1 and Zoop is a device option, though I still get the Device Not Found message. Argh!

Hmmmm, updating to the newest version of 3.1x was my only thought. I had a similar issue after purchasing my Vyper Air, it wouldn't communicate until after I installed the newest software. (this was pre DM4 though)

On the download wizard screen, after you select your dive computer in the drop-down, are you able to select the COM port?

All I can think of is to try a different USB port, or for a quick test, a different PC computer. It's always possible that it's simply a broken cable. Don't rule out Suunto's helpdesk, we're all still hoping we won't be totally abandoned just because we choose to use the best software solution available.

Good luck!

Well, I just checked "MOVESCOUNT", and would you believe there are a whole 258 members of the diving section. This is with the incentive of winning a D4 of you joined by the end of June. Considering the number of Suunto dive computers out there, I think this confirms what a C**P idea DM4 was/is. My question is will the bosses "let them eat cake" and suffer a similar fate (as Marie), or will they listen to their customers? :D
There has been a lot of talk about addressing the short comings of DM4, but precious little action:confused:

If the connection is loose, I might try another usb port entirely. If you have the option, trying it on another computer might not be a bad idea. Another thought is to make sure you have the latest version of DM3... It's DM 3.1. I believe that will recognize the zoop. Suunto is a great computer, IMHO, but I'm sticking with DM3 and my cobra 3 until they the the mess with DM4 cleaned up.

That's awesome. :) Hopefully another nail in the coffin?

I have the old Vyper and agree the connection of the cable to the computer leaves a lot to be desired. First make sure after you select the correct menu option on the computer you've pressed the Smart button (the right button) to select the option. It should say "quit" after it's selected. Then sometimes you have to manually press the cable into the computer to maintain a good connection.

I was recently, finishing my divemaster course and my instructor comes to me and says its time to see your log books. Well last summer I was on a boat that sank and I lost my log book, so he says, "Well, I know you use the D9 so just print out a copy from the DM." I had already switched to DM4 and erased DM3. I eventually had to drag instructor to my house to show him on my computer.

Thanks suunto for no "print" feature. What a mess!

Eventually Suunto DM4 will have all the features provided by Dive Manager 3.1. and more.

Are you serious? I am in the IT business and I have NEVER heard a line of crap such as this one!!! You bring out a new version of your software that you hope to develop to be as good as the old version it replaced? Did you really mean to say this? This can't be. Please say it ain't so.

If there are two persons who wish to use DM4 on the same computer, all they have to do is to have separate operating system accounts (like they should always do if they e.g. want to have their own personal bookmarks in the IE, autologin to FB etc….). When the user changes, he/she just needs to log out in the operating system profile account and then the DM4 databases stay separate and the Movescount accounts are correctly updated with correct dives.

No way!!! You really can't be serious. Are your developers so out of it? BTW, I don't have to logout of the current pc user account to login FB with a different username. No software or service that I know of would require me to logout of one computer account and login with a different computer user account just to be able to use a different username on this service.

In regards to requiring the use of "cloud" storage, what would I have to do when I am in diving in a resort without internet service or on a liveaboard and I want to download my dives from my Suunto computer BEFORE I forget the notes of the dives? What if internet is expensive (it always is outside the US and Western Europe) and of low quality? Do we just buy UWATEC or some other brand??

I have been using and recommending Suunto computers for about 20 years now (since the Solution) but I won't be doing it now. I guess you made it easier for me to find a reason to sell all of my Suunto computers (I have about 7) and buy the Atomic Aquatics computer. Thanks!!!!

Could you tell me if the ability to store your data locally and not the cloud is on the DM4 roadmap (if so, would there be an ETA for this feature)? Or will DM4 and onward always require cloud access?

As some other have stated, I have no desire to put my data into a cloud based service or share it with anyone. I know you can mark private however I would prefer a locally running application accessing my local data. I am hoping a future release of DMx would give us this option and not force us into a cloud only offering.

thanks
