Hey Jax you have fun diving......or should I say trying to dive....I doubt those who rescheduled are regretting anything.

Forecast......rain and storms next 10 days.....winds out of the north Mon-Fri

Intellicast - Cozumel Weather Report in Mexico

Damn. I guess besides diving, all we will be able to do is sit in the hot tub. . . . hang out at the bars . . . try a bunch of different restaurants . . . lay around in bed . . . or . . . nvr mnd

Take heart!! Those of us that will be down there won't be able to bask in the sun, since the storm will hang around and the sun can't peek through because

. . . all the clouds . . .

. . . will CUT IT OFF!!!! :rofl3:

Come on; you live in Arizona. If basking in the sun is what you are looking for, why travel. Now if you want to dive....

With just a little luck, you should be able to enjoy all the diving you had planned even if you have to pass on the southern sites. If you are disappointed about not being able to enjoy the afternoons in the sun, maybe you could just do a little more diving. Enjoy.:crafty:

Grandpa used to say: "Don't borrow trouble, it'll find you on it's own." Glad to hear this hurricane has become a non-event. The only "downside" (if a non-hurricane can have a down-side) is some people become more complacent about the next storm and aren't as diligent in their prep. Regardless, this is great news.

Don't count on Cozumel becoming complacent with these storms! We have been through the worst hurricane in history (Wilma) and saw how fast things can change. We went to bed with Wilma being a tropical depression and woke up to a Category five heading straight for us developing more strength as she crossed the Caribbean - we had less than 48 hours to prepare for Wilma! We have had a few "drills" since Wilma and we've treated them all the same - prepared for the worst and hoping for the best!

This storm, even at it's worst looked like it could be a Cat 3 - we prepared for the worst and still as of 11:30am - no one is taking guard down. The whole town is still boarded up and shut down until the storm officially passes. Of course, this storm is nothing like Wilma and won't become another Wilma or even Emily - but we are preparing for ALOT of rain!

In my case, the biggest adventure was having 3 kids (ages 4 - 7) in the house...my own el niño...haha! It was actually a fun night with them and I got to make them funny shaped pancakes for breakfast - I never get to do that and I LOVED it!

Right now, just a tiny breeze with very dark skies - expecting the downpour to start anytime now!

With all of that said - thanks to EVERYONE for your thoughts, good vibes, prayers, wishes and support!

Will post another update later :)

sorta like every other day in the tropics in the rainy season?

i kinda like the warm thunderstorms that blow in every afternoon along with the odd overnight torrential downpour...

I'm sure we will find something to keep us occupied . . . and warm!

Hey WSO...as Lamont said - no different than any other forecast for the tropics this time of year! And even as a TD - it's nothing but rain - if it didn't have a name, no one would give it a second thought - we have had worse nortes and far worse rainy days! Thanks for playing though!!

Today from Jeff Masters:

Jeff Masters:
...So far this morning, winds at Cozumel have been under 15 mph, and the island had picked up 0.35" of rainfall as of 10 am EDT. Damage from Rina to Cozumel and Cancun should be minor, and I expect the hotels there will be open for business this weekend.

After Rina makes its closest pass by Cozumel, the storm will be too weak and shallow to "feel" the steering influence of a trough of low pressure passing to its north, and Rina will be trapped in the Western Caribbean near the coast of the Yucatan. Wind shear may be strong enough to destroy the storm by Monday. Moisture streaming to the northeast from Rina is likely to bring 1 - 3 inches of rain to the Florida Keys and South Florida over the weekend.

A good wetsuit should do both.

OK, add a jacket for the SIs.

For those who like better weather to dive in they may want to reschedule.....YMMV
Also needing a canoe to bar hop or go to a restaurant is not my idea of fun....again YMMV :D

Damn he really wants that island to sink huh?

Our snowstorm just picked up. Really falling now.
