The U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a missing diver in the Gulf of Mexico.
The search and rescue mission is taking place 27 nautical miles west of Captiva Island, said Petty Officer Crystalynn Kneen.
The diver, approximately 50 years of age, was part of a group of divers taken to the USS Mohawk by a vessel, Kneen said. He went missing at around 2:47 p.m.
On the third dive, Kneen said, the man surfaced yelling for help and then went under.
The USS Mohawk, a World War II ship and artificial reef, is 30 miles off of Lee County.
The Coast Guard was alerted of the missing diver via satellite phone, Kneen said.
"We are actively searching for him," Kneen said. "The Coast Guard searches as long as the possibility he is alive is still there."
