The rubber plate on a commercial bail out bottle rig may weigh less but maybe not. They are pretty thick rubber. I've never seen a wing or doubles put on one either and the plastic backpacks can support doubles. They do look heavy duty though with the rivets on the webbing and would probably last forever. I can only imagine what kinds of looks I would get if I showed up with one of those on a cattle boat. I dont think anyone would want to be my instabuddy :-(
