Lois Ann (http://www.loisann.com) has HP100s, they go to the Yukon every weekend, and can pump 32% Nitrox into those HP100s right on the boat.

    Halcyon BC

Pro! This is a great "BC". If you want a system that feels like its glued to your back (aka rock solid) this is it. I've been through a number of other systems and this one totally helped me dial in my trim and comfort. A must buy.

    Cleaning p-valves?

Maybe we have a confusion of terms.... I refer to the disposable part as the condom... I generally call the tube the catheter.... I dont want folks thinkin I'm reusin the condom (or the catheter as you guys call it) for god sakes.

    Cleaning p-valves?

I recently read a thread on DIR quest that mentioned folks getting bladder infections from their p-valves (or more specifically the catheter). Should the p-valve be cleaned to keep down bacteria and stuff growing wild in there and if so with what? I've considered possibly a bleach or...

As some of you may or may not know. Tamara Kendel of GUE and WKPP fame (http://www.gue.com/info/resumes/tkendel.html) has moved to San Diego CA. She's set the following DIR Fundamentals schedule. Spread the word, she's going to be an awesome addition to SoCal! GUE - DIR Fundamentals - San...

    Halcyon Proteus 10w Head

So I've had my Halcyon for about 2 months and most of that time its been at halcyon getting fixed. Issues: 1) Light shipped but bulb broken in shipping, returned to Halcyon and fixed 2) Light flooded on maiden dive, returned to Halcyon and fixed with a modification to the design. 3) Bulb...

    Another DIR Light Question...

I guess it depends on what light you have. I've got a Pro4 and dont compensate on the left at all. I dont even feel it in the water. Supposedly the Pro4 is only 2-3lb negative so not much diff there. Pro14 may be an issue.

How many of u use a snorkel ?

My opinion.... I havent had a snorkel on my head since I finished my OW class 18 yrs ago. Never needed it, it just always seemed to get in the way. The only time I ever see folks actually using em is on surf entries for some reason. Which in my mind is a real bad time. Your getting...

    Dive Rite Transpac

Dont worry about the comfort thing. I've owned both the TPII and the Halcyon. If ya want the whole skinny just look at this thread. http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18712 The BP is extremely comfortable... I've never once wished I had padding and I do lots of shore...

    Dive Rite vs. Halcyon

I'll add my 2 cents since I've owned and dove both of em. 1) I felt the DiveRite Transpac2 trapped air. Seemed like one wing or another always had more air than the other. Not a big deal, just twist a bit and the bubble evened out. But never had this quirk w/ the Halcyon. 2) Originally...

    drysuit weighting

Odd.... I bought a DUI tri-lam about 6 months ago w/ the 300s underwear and it was a break even in the amount of weight I had from my 2-piece 7mm oniell (20lbs w/ AL80). Since you mention its your 1st drysuit dive... could it just be that you had too much air in it? I don't use my...

    What are your buddy "requirements"?

You are correct... no "cert". But you do get to eat a good dose of humble pie from the instructor. Knowing what yer bad at and what its "supposed" to look like is the value of the class. They give you HARD feedback which is something I never got in other classes. Taking the class is no...

    What are your buddy "requirements"?

See... folks are soooo touchy.... No where in my post did I say that everyone non-DIR is incompetant, or that any diver worth his salt has to be DIR. All I did was state my personal observation, that I find it alot easier to find safe buddy concious divers when I know they have gone through a...

    What are your buddy "requirements"?

Certification level does not mean squat. I've seen PLENTY of instructor certified folks that I wouldnt dive w/with. The only certification that IMHO means anything is DIR Fundamentals (let the flame wars begin)... At least you are ensured of some level of competant bouyancy control and...

    The Britannic

Andrew G. came down and gave us a presentation on this a few months back. He showed us some of the video that was put on the cutting room floor and my jaw was on the floor with drool running out the whole time. If the show is 1/2 as good as the cut out footage it'll be an hour well spent...
