I just bought a BP/W and have only tested it out twice. Both times my tank rotated several degrees to the right.

I've tried to adjust the tank cam bands as tight as I can. I never had this problem when using my BC.

I assume that I have to figure out how to get the cam bands even tighter but I though I would ask just in case this is a common problem for new users of a BP/W.

Never experienced that. I'm guessing it's the band you're using. Personally, I use SP straps with SS buckles, not cams. I also use a STA when diving single tank.

You did'nt tell us what BPW you are using, but if I were to make a guess off hand, I would have to agree with the STA. If you don't have one you should consider it as it will make your tank stay where you put it, and make your life a little easier. If you do use one, make sure it is bolted down TIGHT to the back plate.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine a tank rotating in two tank straps.

Without seeing for myself, I'd venture two guesses:
1. Bands not tight enough
2. Bands not threaded properly in buckle so... see number one...
3. No STA

Vie:
gcbryan is using a Deep Sea Supply bp/wing.

Good detective work Vie! :)

The DSS single tank wing doesn't require an STA. I guess it's like a Halcyon Pioneer in that respect. You can use an STA but you shouldn't need it.

One possibility is that the cam straps haven't broke in yet. Even though they may seem tight when they're dry it's possible that they loosen up just enough to ease the grip when they get wet.

Try wetting them and then leaving them on your tanks overnight a few times and if possible, wet them before your next dive and cinch the heck out of 'em.

Yes, VIe you are correct DSS :) They shouldn't need a STA. Before I purchased the DSS BP/W I did a dive with Grateful Diver's DSS BP and I had no problems so it's something I'm not doing correctly. I do notice that I can't cinch the tank staps as tightly with this set up as with my old BC.

I'll have to recheck the threading through the buckle and I'll try making sure the straps are wet first.
