In my opinion, get a watch that also has a depth meter. You can decide if you want a computer later or not (they're great for logging dives) but at the very least you have a backup to your depth gauge setup.

Maybe I'm just paranoid about all-inclusive type packages, but are the depth gauges that are integrated into watches reliable/accurate?

I guess there is no reason that they shouldn't be, but I used to have a watch with a thermometer that never displayed accurate temperature whether or not I was wearing it.

In the thirty dives I've done since getting my HyperAqualand, I haven't seen more than one foot variation from my Stinger - within one degree on temperatures as well.

Land Locked:
It is a full dive computer. The MG1010 uses the Canadian dive tables and is Citizen's
1st full blown watch/computer.

Wow! Is that a fish finder?!

Hi. First post here, sorry if this is a repeat topic (if so, kindly point me to other threads).

I'm just getting into recreational diving, and am curious about equipment.

I'm looking into dive computer options and dive watches.

Are the watches with built in dive computers (eg. the Citizen Cyber Aqualand Nx) as good as dedicated "dive computers?"

I'm thinking about getting the above watch, but I'm afraid I'll find out later that I ALSO need a dive computer, and I don't want to waste 900 bucks on a watch if it is better to get a simple depth-rated watch and a standalone computer.

Thanks in advance!

Have you looked at the ATOM 1?
Its hoseless air integrated and a dive watch/computer.

My boyfriend's girlfriend rocks too. He's a pretty experienced diver and has a dive watch and a separate computer, but I'd like to get him a nicer dive watch for his birthday. Are you happy with this watch? Do you do nitrox diving? (He doesn't, and I'm not sure I want to encourage him.) Any other suggestions, anyone (up to $500-ish)? Thx!

You might want to look at the Suunto Stinger. Pug uses one only for depth and as a bottom timer.
They also function well as a watch above water with date, time and alarm clock.

Thanks! Would you recommend this watch even if the titanium version is out of my budget, but I could afford a titanium Citizen?
