It's hard to understand the translation

She had died, even before the edition closing the legal status of the guide was unknown, as the husband of the young man blamed for his death.
Is that saying the husband is being blamed or doing the blaming?

Here is another article but the translation is still spotty. It says they were snorkeling and the victim was convulsing when found. The video ends with the ambulance moving the patient into the clinic and it was clearly a woman.

Turista estadounidense muere tras convulsionarse mientras buceaba

COZUMEL, Q. Roo.- An American tourist was killed by drowning when immersed in waters south of the island and enjoyed the view of the flora and fauna of the reef, at 2:20 yesterday afternoon.

The visitor Cristal N, 32, from Illinois, United States, entered the sea snorkeler, but Hector Aguilar as his guide, he was out of sight a few minutes and after a brief search found floating, so immediately he pulled it out and sought medical help.

They tried to save her

A hyperbaric chamber ambulance came to Playa Uvas, located at kilometer 8.5 of the south coastal road, where emergency medical technicians will applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and taken to hospital, where and could not recover.

The guide said foreign tourists was convulsing as he pulled out of the water, but does not know if he suffered an illness; the official data is that the cause of death was drowning.

The Google translations are basically worthless.

Possible fact: They were at Playa Uvas.

Unknown: Was it the woman or man who died?

Unknown: Were they snorkeling or diving? If diving, was it a resort course or were one or both of the two tourists certified.

If I could read Spanish it might be obvious.

What we got here is a Failure to communicate... lol Cool Hand Luke

Where is the original Spanish version, since the Por Esto link does not work anymore?

The last article linked says they were snorkeling, and the guide lost sight of her. They searched, but couldn't find her, so they went to the beach to see if she had gotten out. She hadn't, so the guide returned to the water, and when he found her, she appeared to be seizing. The cause of death was felt to be drowning. There is no mention of dive gear or diving. However, the Por Esto article says they were diving.

My Spanish is very rusty, but it looks like a woman died while snorkeling with a guide on her honeymoon.

decidieron contratar los servicios de un guía de snorquel

They decided to hire the services of a snorkel guide, the Spanish word for dive is "buceo". So it looks like snorkeling.

el esposo de la joven lo culpaba de la muerte de la mujer.

The husband of the (feminine) youth blamed him for the death of the woman. So it looks like a young woman died.

If the young woman (RIP) had a flotation device like a wetsuit or snorkelling vest on (probably very likely as she was found 'floating'), it would be virtually impossible to drown accidentally unless she was caught in something - which does not seem to be the case. Therefore, the seizure could be the problem that caused her to become incapacitated and drown. I wonder if she had a hitherto undisclosed medical condition?

:shakehead: Excerpting from my previous post...
The Por Esto link seems to be empty, but that version is posted on this FB page - except it mentions snorkeling: https://www.facebook.com/pages/El-Policiaco-De-Cozumel/149519215213242
