Ok. I know everyone is likely to tell me "Do a search." There are so many posts and so many hotels, I thought this would be more efficient.

What is your favorite place to stay/dive in Coz? If you can give me just the name of the hotel and/or dive operation that you like, or some of the more popular ones with SB, I will search that way. There are just too many posts to read otherwise. Thanks in advance.

You're going to have to be more specific... ie: How much you want to spend, AI or non-AI, In town, Far from town, etc.

I'll take the plunge. Favorite place to stay: Casa Gordon (hope you have the cake and can you take me with you?) http://www.travelforadventure.com/casa.html. Favorite dive op.: Aldora Divers.

Ahhhh...Casa Gordon...just a few $$ per night

Have you ever stayed there or been inside? It is absolutely beautiful and definitely a dream house!

I've been to a few weddings there.

Stay at Occidental Grand Cozumel. It is far and away the best hotel on the island.

If that is too far from town and/or you don't want the AI, I would recommend Casa Mexicana.

Dive with one of the small operators. Lots are raved about on the board. A few that I personally like are: Blue XT Sea, Alison Dennis, and Dive with Martin.

Others that I do not have personal experience with, but who come highly recommended by people here on Scubaboard whose judgement I trust are: Aldora, Deep Blue, Blue Angel, Bottomtime Divers, and Living Underwater.

lsudive,

We really enjoy staying at Casa Mexicana http://www.casamexicanacozumel.com/ get an ocean view room it has small refrig..Wonderful staff...not moldy...and you can get a non-smoking room if requested..This hotel meets our needs. It is downtown, up above street level...no cruise ship people around the hotel....NOT AI...close to the many great downtown restaurants. No need for a car...just walk and if need be take a taxi. But it does not have much of a pool and The Ocean is across the street, small sandy area by the sea wall and I have seen local children swimming...mainly divers and Mexican business people stay at this hotel. Breakfast buffet included in the price of room.

Liquid Blue Divers http://www.liquidbluedivers.com/ has good reputation on SB...they use ST 100 and 120cf tanks for longer bottom times...Michaela and Roberto are the owners/operators and they know what great customer service is.

So check out Casa Mexicana and Liquid blue divers---they are a great combination!

See our trip report for further information on restaurants. http://dive.scubadiving.com/members/tripreports.php?s=3028

Have a wonderful time on your trip to Cozumel!

I had the good fortune to be invited to stay there for a week with family. It is hands down the nicest experience you could ask for on the island and pretty much anywhere for that matter. I can only compare it to having a luxury boutique hotel all to yourself for the week. Aldora did a beach pickup/dropoff and the boat rides were nominal. It was, to put it mildly, a little slice of heaven! My wife and I are thinking of renewing our vows there.
