Well, I don't know what the availability of Aqualung products and service is where you live, but my husband and I bought Aqualung Titan LXs when we got certified, and it was a purchase I still think was well done. They were very much middle-of-the-road in price, but have been entirely satisfactory throughout the whole range of recreational depths, in warm and cold water, and they breathe quite well.

I would strongly recommend you dive a reg that you are most comfortable with, as well as having the ability to get it serviced.

I started out on a ScubaPro and when I bought my reg, bought a MK25/555...works very well and have the comfort knowing that it has lifetime parts replacement provided I have it serviced annually.

Thanks for all the replies, must admit I had'nt really considered servicability, better have a chat with my local dealer. Trouble is he always manages to sell me something when I ask him for advice!

You want a balance 1st and 2nd stage regulator and as mention above all are good brands

Thats hard to do over an e-mailed question. What does the shop service there?

1st, anyone who thinks they pay a lot for scuba gear where they live should move to OZ. You will be horrified.

2nd, I'd never recommend any equipment that is distributed by Aquanuts OZ. Worst customer service in the universe. I have some Apeks regs, they came from Spain, the service kits come from Germany.

You can't go wrong dealing with Chris from the Dive Tub or the Zeagles he distributes.

It doesn't matter where you are in the country, he'll have your stuff to you overnight or 2nd day every time. I'm yet to encounter an LDS that has this speed or quality of service.

As freight charges from OS suppliers are starting to bite give Chris a call & discuss everything from servicing to price matching. You may get a pleasant surprise.
