Can anybody recommend a good dive knife?
If you dive where there's entanglement hazards get a dirt cheap trauma shears instead. Put a thin layer of silicone on, let it soak in fresh water after every dive, followed by air drying and it will last for a very long time. Don't rub it dry as that will disturb your silicone layer.

Yes but doubt that it's 316 SS. Lower grade still rusts in salt water. Especially the pin used to hold both halves together.
Or if it’s Chinese stainless, then nobody has a clue what the alloy really is. You said “cheap” so that would be a prime indicator.
Rinse real good in fresh water and then WD-40 it.

No WD-40 for things you take in the water. Thats a pollutant.

This is why freediving is better than SCUBA diving--you can carry your knife between your teeth.
