so what are short term and long term plans for the site with the new owners?

In the past we'd heard rumors of them building condos there, a golf course, a nature preserve, etc.

the last I heard was that in order to complete the sale that sellers group was going to have to complete the cave diving pit area (muddy basin across from campground) and pave the road going in.
 
Supposedly, Vortex will remain a dive destination. $32 entry without the free airfill(new website no longer lists the airfill). Shane, formerly employed at Emeral Coast(Destin), is supposed to be in charge of the place now. Eduardo is still there, and atleast one other older employee. Eduardo was the one pumping crap out of the cave training cesspool, perhaps thats still in the works.
