You can clear the 48 hour lockout by doing a short dive or freedive within the 5 minute limit. At least mine seems to do this. Just a few seconds should do the trick.

the only differences (besides looks) between the mosquito and the stinger are:
-mosquito battery is user replaceable, stinger is not
-stinger has gauge mode, mosquito does not.
-stinger costs more
therefore, if you like the looks of the mosquito and don't care for a bottom timer because you dive only EANX (incl. air) the mosquito will save you money without sacrificing any functionality.
