Bronze or brass? Bronze is more expensive than brass and is often used over stainless for its excellent underwater properties. Brass is probably what Tractor Supply offers, but since I prefer stainless I am not going to confirm that.

I think I've seen brass ones at Home Depot for a few bucks.
I get all mine at Lowes. Same difference tho. Brass, stainless, big'uns, little'uns, whatever. Cheap enough that you don't fret if you drop it into the abyss; cheap to keep a few in your dive-box.

Not the same at all. All stainless is not the same. You want marine grade 316 stainless. That's not what they sell at Lowes or HD.

One of these was bought at a dive shop, and one was bought at Home Depot...

At the time of the photo, the one on the left was about 4yrs old and had done about 300 saltwater dives. The one on the right was a month old, and had done approx 50 saltwater dives.

Can you guess which was purchased at Home Depot?

PS - the Home Depot one was marked "marine grade"

the slices on my fingers also give reason to avoid brass..... worse than zebra mussels, and bouyancy control has no effect on avoiding the danger of being cut....

On some of my gear with bolt snaps, it's tricky enough to open them in various orientations, especially smaller ones (say for a SPG).

They end up swivelling out of my hands (probably worse with gloves) trying to use them.

Are there non-swivel bolt snaps out there? (And that don't cost an arm and a leg?)

In many applications you may well find that a non-swivel snap make your issue even worse. A snap could easily get oriented such that you can't get your a finger to where the gate is. A rotating snap is unlikely to get pinned thusly.

Don't employ a "gear solution to a skill problem." (Other than possibly using a larger snap if size is the issue.)

Maybe Don's article will help?
Buy Generic Cialis usa. OFFICIAL PHARMACY #1

^What the heck? Click on the link it is not Generic Cialis, but I will leave it for the laugh :)

FWIW dry glove fit is very important, and I find most people use gloves that are too large, in trying to make them easier to don and doff. They should be pulled on with a little effort and require a little work to seat the finger tips. They do not need to all the way to the V of the fingers, but they do need to be tight against the finger tips for dexterity.

I saw a UTD video, with the pinky over the hose, that issue is solved, now for the hip ring to be where I think it is (it never is sticking out, either forwards or backwards ....)

A fixed hip ring a solution or not?
