im having trouble visualizing what you're asking.
I couldn't imagine a dive where I'd be doing gas breaks at 70'. it's a long way off and it wouldn't be in the ocean

I get what you're saying, rjack. We're both not explaining what we're visualizing very well. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._475016303475_509098475_5656885_1891507_n.jpg

The reg is no longer around the neck, but clipped off to the side of the bottle, the hose lays along side it (much the same way if it were in the band), but its way easier/ quicker to stow for a short time. Naturally, when putting away a bottle for good (or a stage drop/ pickup in a cave), the hose goes under the bands.

yea. it's just quicker and less of a pain to stow this way when you're doing it over and over and you may or may not have a ton of gear on you after a long dive.

in any event, the important thing to take away from aj's picture is the black cave line

So that I can understand the relative amount of effort between clipping or fully-stowing the regulator: do you use one hand or two to stuff the LP hose under the restrictive bands?

Depends. On the bottom band I typically swing the bottle out in front and I'll use two hands.

Usually, I'll unclip the tail and swing the bottle out in front, so I can easily see it. Then I shove the hose under the bands, tidy it all up, swing it back to my hip and clip it off.

For the types of dives I do, stowing a reg usually means its getting clipped to a line, a leash, or another bottle is going on top of it. If dropping it on a line, I'll place it under one band just to speed up the process a tad. For the other applications, it goes under two bands.

For the 20' stop, since its coming out again in 6mins, the reg gets clipped off or shoved under one band with one hand.

I'm starting to see. Presumably that means you have to clip off the lighthead too then?
