It's a slick mod, but if I were you I'd Dremel out the original exhaust hole to match the KM exhaust outer diameter. As it is the is some flow restriction (though probably not too much).

You have an early conshelf with the screw on exhaust tee and the the small exhaust port that has been modified to use the large exhaust valve and slip on tee. Those screw retainers are original to that reg, from the factory.

This thread talks about small port/lg port screw on/slip on tee differences, as I was trying to make heads or tails of this myself:

I'm familiar with Connie's of all variety, but never had my hands on a KM super flow. I do know that Aqualung originally made the super flow for KM, and I thought I heard that the vast majority of parts are interchangeable. Of course, now I'm looking at a DIY mod for side port Connie's to do a super flow style adjuster knob.....

@PartFish nailed it. From the look of it, that was one of the smallest exhaust port ones.
