Equipment is the cheap part if you dive often. My amortized gear costs are less than $10/dive and going down, and thats even after buying 2 pieces each of the bulkier items like BC, fins and wetsuit.

It's the tropical vacactions that cost me, particularly when my wife comes along and wants a nice hotel. Airfare, car rental, nice dinners, and good hotel can push costs up above $250/dive on a 9 day 16 dive trip to Maui with my wife. Thats before the $60/dive boat charter costs.

w/ 120 dives, I'm sitting around $50-60$ per dive...I'm NOT counting trip costs (yet) in all that. Of course, gear junky again. Tanks, H-Valves, redundant regulators, drysuit, masks, computer, fins, etc, etc, etc.....

I found the solution: I sent her for OW training and everything was solved.

I don't see how that "cuts" cost....seems more like a "daily double" to me.

It doesn't cut costs. It cuts spousal complaints about the cost.

Thankfully, it is so easy to reduce the cost ..... just dive more. So you would really be savingm money with next weekend's dives!

The cost of diving turns out to be much less than the cost of marriage.

This proves that I am actually saving money as a result of my divorce! LOL

Lets see....

$2000 in gear for me, $2000 in furniture for the better half.

So, my total dive costs are $4K so far...

LOL

I prefer to go blissfully along and rationalize diving...
