The newspaper wrap is protected by law here and is considered 'Mandatory' for good fish and chips. If ever you come here again, then head my way (Whangarei) and I'll shout you the best fish and chips in the province. They even have a plaque to prove they won the competition.
A lovely piece of Hoki for $1.80 NZ and chips cooked in a special oil...Mmmmmmmm.
The pineapple is served with ham and is known as the 'Hawaiian'.I'm a meatlovers myself, with BBQ sauce...Mmmmmm.
Where did you stay when you were here? Let me know.I may know the place.
Cheers ears,
The Gasman

What is it about that newspaper that makes me drool?? I'm there!!
Whangarei sounds very familiar... even though it's been 20 years since I've been there. I stayed in Rangirora... a small place about 15 minutes out from Christchurch on the South Island. Beautiful! I didn't want to come home! But my Mom wasn't ready to give me up yet.. I was only 16.
And I'm with you.. no fruit on my pie!!
Take care! Casey

I was last in the South Island in 97.I had a Christchurch connection at the airport.I hope to do a tour again When I get back.Yes,you're one of the lucky ones.So few people ever get to find out about NZ and when they do they wonder why they never got their before. It may sound like I'm skiting.but you and I know better eh?
Cheers temporary kiwi ears,
The Gasman.

I got too carried away with my "R's". Rangiora is correct!
Cheers! Casey

Current dream destinations

Glapagos & Cocos - really like the big stuff

and I think Saudi Red Sea, politcal climate excepted, it is just opening up a little I here, could be some pristine stuff down there.

Top three I haven't visited (in order of distance from my home):

1) Bahamas
2) Galapagos
3) Palau

I expect a business trip to Saudi this summer, so the Red Sea may end up in the Top 3 by default.

Top three I have visited:

1) Holms Reef (100 miles east of the GBR) and the GBR
2) Caymans - my favorite so far for shorediving and super short boat rides to great diving
3) West Palm to the Middle Keys - Not quite as nice as the Cayamans, but I can drive instead of fly.
