I would also check out Deep Blue (www.deepbluecozumel.com). They also have fast boats, small groups, nice beach SIs, etc. I think they were $62/2 tank dive when I was there a few weeks ago.

Landlocked Missourian:Marg,
You are awesome!! Thanks for the number crunching. Am I interpreting your last sentence correctly- that Blue Angel's boats are more advanced and can take divers to more sites than Living Underwater can? Also, was it your choice to end your dives at 58 minutes and come up with so much air left. I ask because I just can't ever see me making that choice. Jackets and towels could be very much appreciated in rainy or cooler weather since I usually only wear a skin when I dive.
Keep those thoughts comin' SB'ers - ya'll are fantastic!

MMM:So it turns out (at least for me) that cost per minute between each of the ops is negligible. So once cost is removed as a factor, then you need to think about what other amenities are important.
thebes11:One of the most important amenities for me is magic tricks on the surface interval!
As far as lodging, I loved staying at Vista Del Mar. Inexpensive, but beautiful rooms with ocean views. Not on the water, but right across the street! It's right by the McDonlads, so your right downtown. We could see the cruise ships but were never bothered by any noise. Only complaint, and it's minor for me, was the water in the shower wasn't always hot. Always warm, but sometimes would not make it to hot. Gisela, the manager, is just a doll, and really caters to her guests.
When I get home, I'll post the topside video from our stay in '05 showing how beautiful the rooms are.

1gromit:What's notable to me is how competition has created so many great dive ops in Coz. I'm heading to Curacao this weekend for 10 days of diving, and there are few if any ops to compare with any of these Coz ops. (I know, it's 'shore diving' mecca, but still - you should see the dive op recommendations on the ABC forum "great op, they only go out with about 20 people on the boat. But there's usually one DM for every 10 or 12 people...") Makes Coz ops look all the better! Wish I could take any of the above mentioned Coz ops to Curacao!!
