Well, despite global warming I can guarantee you'll be able to do an ice cert here. There are at least 6-8 shops in northern MN that run classes, usually in Feb or March. Here's a link to one of the biggest in the area:

I'm also interested in getting my ice diving cert ... but AFTER I get my dry suit! With a daughter starting college this fall, that won't happen for a year or two unfortunately, but I'll certainly keep northern MN in mind beezwax. I couldn't think of a more appropriate place to learn to ice dive.
