On some of my gear with bolt snaps, it's tricky enough to open them in various orientations, especially smaller ones (say for a SPG).

They end up swivelling out of my hands (probably worse with gloves) trying to use them.

Are there non-swivel bolt snaps out there? (And that don't cost an arm and a leg?)

They want non swivel ones... I added a non swivel bolt snap to my light which had a screw on head. Allows one-handed on and off of the light while it is still clipped to the D-Ring. It is a very useful modification; a no brainer..I'm not sure why everyone else hasn't figured this out (yet).

I just pounded the swivel portion with a hammer and it spins no more.

98% of my dives are done with dry gloves. I have large bolt snaps on everything and do not find it to be a problem to use them. For warm water, they just happen to be even easier to use.

Good ol "Brute force, if it isn't working, use more"

Not that often that I can fix dive gear with a hammer.

If you have a Tractor Supply near you, they have bronze bolt snaps that are non-swivel for under $5

Without wanting to start another Ford vs Chevy style debate, there are those of us who consider stainless steel to be vastly superior to bronze, there IS a reason bronze is cheaper......just sayin'.
