Mini Season Toll

We all think its sad that it happens but every year a bunch of yahoos that dive only once a year grab their gear that has been on a shelf in their garage and jump on a buddies boat to go grab some lobster. Every year some of those same yahoos die. One would think that maybe some of these people would learn a lesson but they don't. So next year it will be the same thing. That is why so many people on the board stay out of the water during mini season.

makes you wonder if any of blame in this lies in the training agencies and their "get certified in one weekend" type courses?

Maybe if divers had better training, they wouldn't be floating up dead from mini season as much?

Possibly. I think a lot of it is people that aren't certified at all. I hear a lot about people that have never had training going out with their friends that are certified and diving during mini season. That kind of crap is nuts. On the part of everyone involved.

I doubt it, if you dive once a year, your skills are going to suck.

I thought that board was getting overmoderated with I used a smiley that wasn't on their default list and some of their moderators deleted my smiley from my post within an hour.
