Im a NAUI Master Diver and PADI Rescue Diver and I have to say they are both good agencies that teach just about the same material. I think NAUI might tend to be a little more class room oriented, and PADI more simplified for the recreational diver. Either way my experience has been that it's the intructor that makes a class, not the agency. So find a recomended instructor in you area who makes the class not only educational but fun.

Which one is better?

PADI has to be better because it's "The way the world learns to dive." PADI has certified more people so it has to be better!

PADI......often imitated but never duplicated!

PADI......when only the very best will do!

PADI......It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!

PADI.....trust your loved ones to no one else!

PADI......a name you can trust!

PADI........etc, etc, etc.

And all of this is based on FACTS! Not just opinion.

Get a hold of some insurance statistics on the order of accidents per 100 divers certified and you will be not so pleasantly surprised.

OK. I'll bite. Share them with us!

I was O/W certified by NAUI and I'm now a PADI MSDT with many dives and students under my belt. Along the way I've dove with divers, and Instructors, from damn near every agency on the earth. I have found one thing. The best divers are the ones that just go about their business diving and don't try to belittle the training of another agency.
As to which is the best for O/W certification, NAUI or PADI, it matters more which Instructor instills confidence in you as a student. If you don't like the Instructor for even the slightest reason, move on and find another. Just my 2 cents. :)

Let me help you with a couple of questions:

How much does a PADI Instructor pay for professional liability insurance?
How much does a NAUI Instructor pay for professional liability insurance?
You were the one stating FACTS. So, go get em and get back with us and I'll ask you some more questions.

 What has that got to do with anything? :shakehead:
