Perhaps there is a taste difference. Many dive operations would probably only enforce this selectively.

because I would bet it is easier to enforce and complain about knives and gloves instead of the real issues: Non-biodegradable sunscreen.

I am sad to report that I can not return to Cozumel. Although I have made 30 or more dives in the Marine Park carrying explosives, I now see that this is prohibited. I can not dive without the explosive devices required by my certifying agency. I carry several sizes of explosive charges that can be used to blast my way out of a collapsed swim through. One day I hope the Mexican government lifts this dangerous restriction so I can return.

I wonder if they check pockets before the dive?

Which, while not a great prying tool, would be pretty damned easy to conceal.

God, If I ever go to Coz I am going to be THAT GUY on the boat searching for any and all knives and gloves on divers.

I accidentally left mine on my belt for the first dive a few months ago. I swapped it out for my shears after that. I know the DM did say they were prohibited, I was just distracted by someone else at the time.

Found this interesting, seems I can't wear non-biodegradable sunscreen. wonder how often thats enforced . . .

I remember going to Xel Ha (spelling?) over near Playa del Carmen years ago.

it's a lagoon that is a big tourist snorkeling area that a lot of tour groups go to.

The place was freaking packed.

Anyway, because everyone had on sunscreen, the surface of the water looked like "one big oil slick".

Dont forget about the sunscreen tho!!! :rofl3:
