Special Ops Scuba

"...Once you’ve completed the training missions, you are rated Special Ops Scuba Master Diver..."

Does it mean that I can legitimately wear black dive gears without feeling self-conscious?

Does it mean that the dudes with PADI/SSI/NAUI MSD cards would faint before my awesomeness?

Does it mean that I don't have to wear a Rolex dive watch to pick up chicks in bars any more?

Don't be so cynical. It's just LARP-ing on scuba.

Actually, to be honest, I think they have a neat approach. It's unusual and probably a lot of fun... and who knows... the students might even learn something along the way.

More power to them, I say!

I would think the answer is "yes" to all.

It seems like it would be a fun experience, much like practical shooting competitions.

The Level 1 class on it's own would be cool, it has a lot of good drills.

I am sure many will be disappointed about not getting a card out of it.

Cheers,
Mitch

Well there are a number of posts about the old days and military typre training. Well folks, nows your chance. What I didn't see was doing push ups in a full kit........slackers.

What I found interetsing was in the FAQ.
Can you teach me how to scuba dive?
No. All our participants must be scuba certified by a recognized agency.
We do not teach or instruct you in the use of scuba equipment, safe diving procedures, or theories/physics of diving. We do not provide any ordinary diving equipment such as tanks, BCDs, regulators, masks or fins. You have to be a self-reliant diver, competent and safe. You, and you alone, are responsible for your actions, your safety and your health. Special Ops Scuba does not accept any responsibility or liability for your safety while you are in the water or for equipment. All the equipment we provide is extraneous, non-essential equipment. That said, we take safety very seriously, and it is our No. 1 priority when we organize missions. In fact, many of the equipment we provide and the procedures we use will make you safer than on regular dives. We follow WRSTC guidelines. We have safety guidelines that each diver has to accept in writing and abide by. Our staff are experienced divers, many with military and professional level training and experience. However, we are not affiliated with PADI, SDI, SSI, NAUI or any other scuba association at this time. We can refer you to a certified dive shop or scuba diving instructor so you can earn your certification – in fact, we would be happy to do so.
They are not a training agency, offer "military type" drills but still follow WRSTC guidelines. :idk:

Now why didn't Padi think of that.
They must be slacking off.

Looks like the training doesn't result in any C-card. Therefore, it's not eligible as a component of your MSD. Basically, this doesn't look like it fits the Padi business model. Besides, you might come out of this a better diver.
