I ordered a Quik Pod DSLR monopod for mounting my GoPro.. However, I also came up with this idea.. It's just a cheap $10 rubber band gun...Installed a GoPro mount on the front (cut some slots into the plastic) and secured the mount with zip-ties or you could epoxy the attachment to the front.. The zip ties hold the mount perfectly.. :D I cut slots (to fit the GoPro extension mount) on the top side of the gun, but decided to cut slots on the bottom and mount there as this would make the camera more stable. I may add a lanyard if I decide to use it..

Not recommended for air travel......

Mounted on dive light

My husband/dive buddy was playing around with couple of different mounts, and decided to stick a flat mount on top of his pistol grip dive light. I have not seen this one yet in this forum. Works well in deeper areas, under bridges, under cover, etc. When the light is not needed for a specific shot, it is still a nice handle. Has to be a flood type of light and not a spot light, or the image can get washed out. Nice thing about this light is it has 2 different intensity settings. When not using, it is clipped off on a d-ring.

Trying to figure out between these three options, how to mount my Hero 3 w/o lights.

POLE OPTION: Extendable Pole that's still relatively short to travel:
iPole Mini - FastCap - Woodworking Tools

GRENADE OPTION: Grenade grip:
Grenade Grip - GoPro® Hand Grip by GoPole

BOBBER GRIP: Don't know if this would screw up my buoyancy, but would have the advantage of not falling overboard and losing it:
The Bobber - GoPro® Floating Hand Grip by GoPole

What do you think??

Tip for using head mount under water....tie a lanyard to it and attache to your BC. That way you won't loose it
if is slips off...I did this entire video on an X shot monopod extension... GoPro HD Diving UTILA, Bay Islands.avi - YouTube

Hey Thook ever think about using a light mount for your mono pole?

To use with 1" 3/4 diameter video light.

Also available are light mounts for the bigger video lights. Called the professional mono pole light mount.

I have spent most of my first 100 dives staring at a tiny LCD screen. Whatever you do, do not make the mistake I made, and stay away from the LCD bacpac.
