It's funny, in a nation obsessed with the newest and latest you get super low prices in general for second hand dive gear if you can sell at all but it seems old SP gear is rather spendy, the asking price here for an old G250 second stage only is around $170 USD. Wow...although one particular seller seems to have a monopoly so guess can charge what he wants.

I'm not at all picky. I just like to dive, mostly at night. :big grin:

BTW, my photo looks green (SP logo) but it is the same color as yours. Must be the incandescent lights adding too much yellow...

:)
There is a serious and fundamental problem with that secondary, it just doesn't need to be improved.

The market is bimodal, those who want the latest and greatest, and those who are happy with the greatest...

Cheers, does anyone have a source for the purge buttons and diaphragms? I'm more than a little OCD and one of my G250s is red and the other blue, I can't live with that.

If you use them together, I would see that as an advantage. The blue could be your primary and the red your alternate. Or if you ever got into multi gas diving, the different colors could be an additional way to differentiate the mixes.

All true sir, but I use hog set up with secondary bungeed so colour is of little (?) importance I think. Multi gas diving is not in my future, old dog new tricks and all that. I'm happy just to potter around rec diving. My OCD reigns supreme.

there is a blue button on a certain big auction site....

Here one of them is:

I assume I need a service kit and the newer poppet(S-wing), spring and balance chamber as sold by Vintage Double Hose? Does that sound about right? Am I missing anything? Cheers

the orifice is missing it's o-ring...

BTW - I have run across where the wrong orifice was in these regs in the past... IIRC, all of mine that were correct have been stainless steel (or the new white plastic material), and the one you have in the picture (brass) may actually be from a G200B (which causes tuning problems as they are a different length - been there, done that - someone put the wrong one in one I picked up).

Yes, the upgrade kit and the service kit, and I'd likely get one of the orifices (plastic) he sells. They are inexpensive, and should you need it, you have it.....

My schematics show them using the same metal orifice, 11-109-109.
difference should just be in the plating.
