Did you try to pull it out to breathe from it as if you were in an OOA situation? Not easy or practical in that scenario actually when the person OOA is on the verge of panic and death.
My instructor showed us students this. Like Marie said, it pulls right out. Granted I'll be doing the streamlined setup when I get my own gear, but this stick hose through D ring does work well for a "PADI" setup.

Here is an older selfie.

Well if we're sharing pictures... :D

You could really dive dangerously and wear a snorkel and an AIR2 :rofl3:... I also have a spare inflator hose banded to my SPG for my Dive Alert which doubles as a lift bag/SMB inflator. Don't mind the inner tube experiment on my ever evolving singles rig. I've since found a better way to do this. I put a velcro Gnarly Wrap on it. Marie, if I may I have some suggestions... IIRC, you're not doing any penetration overhead diving, right? I would really consider the streamlined open water setup. You mentioned you bought a necklace for your octo but doing that the way you currently have your rig configured could lead to some confusion. When you necklace your octo you donate your primary second stage. If you use that yellow hose on your necklaced octo then you're creating confusion to an OOG diver.

Sorry I disagree.

In teh Tec diving world (and teh world of SB) this may be what people practise. But not everyone does.

I personally Have my Alt 2nd on a necklace It's also on a 40" hose with a 90 swivel routed under the left arm. My primary is the same but routes under the right arm

I brief either primary or secondary donate depending on what my buddy has been taught. There is never any confusion.

Last year I was examined on a course with 2 instructors (obviously attempting to win Oscars for acting) having to carry out OOA donations and air sharing at depth (20m) and ascending to the surface.

Not once did they have an issue with my rig, and it worked. It didn't matter if I donated or if they snatched (to try to catch me off guard) it all worked. There is no "wrong reg" i.e. one too short.

Now I'm not saying my way is the right way, it's an alternative.

If you are diving as team, with everyone practised in drills, then yes you use that method. However because I dive with buddies of mixed training agencies, and often guide people of mixed abilities, I like to have a rig that has more than one option for a panicked unpredictable OOA diver.

Interesting you prefer a second inflator for you dive alert and lift bag inflating, While I find my alert is okay on my wing inflator hose and use a reg for lift bags and dsmb - horses for courses right?

Why you asking this? Does it have an influence if not on a swivel turret? Didn't think it would matter.

Just curious. One may argue that with a swivel turret it will make it easier to use but I was trying to find out from her what she thought of it if it didn't have one. It appeared to me in her pic that it didn't.

Yes, I did. Comes out easily and smoothly.

Sorry, I see now that you meant the metal d'ring on the harness, I was thinking of the small plastic d'ring at the end of the jacket BC shoulder adjustable strap. It have seen it done but it is always a struggle to pull the hose out of it.

Yes, metal D ring.

unc, I like the idea of a bolt snap on my primary. It's always been annoying to me that if you're not using it, it will float off somewhere or fall off your chest, if you've placed it there. It this is the ideal solution. I bought some bolt snaps and 50' of cave line for stuff like this when I was at DRIS last week.

Where exactly do you position the bolt snap?
