I totally understand why some might say this, but I disagree very strongly. I've traveled to Cozumel many times without any plan to dive. Why would anyone go there and just sit around and drink beer and watch football when there are so many other things to do? I've never managed to do everything I wanted to while there, even on a non-dive trip.
With all due respect, you are not the typical visitor to Cozumel; from what I can glean from your posts on this forum I surmise that you spend a lot of time on the island. Most of us can only get there for a few days a year, and on this forum we are self selected to be divers. I doubt that most of us would ever go to Cozumel on a non-dive trip.

@Christi
Your widget is fantastic!
If you added daily water temperature, it would be even better!!
THAT would be a killer widget. Pleeeeeaaaase!

I’ve posted this before, but anybody looking for current water temps on Cozumel can very easily find it at two different sources

Sea water temperature Cozumel today. Quintana Roo Mexico North America.

And

NDBC - Station 42056 Recent Data

Both offer current real time readings. The former site gives water temps at Cozumel. The latter, the NOAA Bouy readings, including water temps, air temps, wind speed, and wave data, is directly from the NOAA Bouy 42056, located 120 nm ESE of Cozumel.

Save one or both of those links, or maybe Christi can give links. Don’t make her do the work over and over when it’s easy for you to check.

...if only they reported the same sea temps - THAT would be nice. 77 vs 79 is significant for me. Also, I prefer going to BlueXTsea to get the info. And sending people there. Seems more personal and somehow I "imagine" a DM reporting the temp from their last dive vs 120nm away from the dive sites. Also: traffic is good for her business. Do you really think that this is a major investment in time and resources?

Both of the sites I linked to report water temps at a depth of 1 meter. It doesn’t surprise me a bit that water temps vary by 2 degrees or more, or that they are slightly colder at depth. Do you want Christi to report temps at 40’, 60’, 80’ and 100’ deep? Hey, if Christi doesn’t mind updating the website every day with a new water temp report, that’s fine with me. I was just saying, it’s hardly necessary. Info on whether the port is closed to diving is priceless, and I sure wish I had that source last week; daily info on water temps, less so, since there are other good sources.

Temps today varied by 4 degrees from 1 site to the next on the same computer - I actually just updated with a little dive report :)

I'm just glad I don't have to convert from Celsius :)

Heck, she even put the visibility on there! All that was asked for was if the port was closed and she's adding that and all of this other information out of the goodness of her heart.

Sure, I totally get that. I never would have gone to Cozumel in the first place if it weren't for the diving.

I'm pointing out that the sole activity choices aren't limited to 1) dive or 2) sit around drinking and watching TV. There are enjoyable things to do when diving isn't an option, which is bound to happen at some point at any dive destination.

Please list some things to do if diving is not available. I can start...

1. San Gervasio
2. East side
3. Turtle release if in season (I wanna do this so bad)
4. Etc.

And I get that as well. How unhappy a diver is with a lost dive day depends very much on how many days on the island he/she has. Most of us have nowhere near as many as you do, and we are all very jealous! :D
