Hello experts ..
Need to upgrade my gear...start with my fins ..i like zeagle recon & hollis f1 & mares avanti Quattro ... i used before cressi reaction pro full feet fins but it has weak push...need your support about choosing or any other fins brands you like it

Best wishes

I'm definitely no expert, but I personally dive the Hollis F1's (yellow tip) and love them. They're heavy at roughly 8 lbs (3.6kg) and negatively buoyant but when you kick them they give plenty of thrust. And while I'm certainly not great at it, they do frog kick very well. Lots of people dive the Mares Avanti Quattro's and love them. A lot of the tec guys here will say if you're considering the F1's, also consider the Deep Six Eddy fins, as they give similar performance with less weight. I haven't tried them myself, but I haven't yet heard/read anything bad about them. And they're more cost effective, too.

Thnx for your support ...but is f1 better for wet suits ...i know that negative fins not good for wet suits...aren't they?

They won't make you neutral but may allow you to use less lead weight. I use mine with a 5mm wetsuit for local lake/quarry diving but with a skin in the Caribbean.

I own Quattros and Deep 6 Eddy fins. The quattros are really great fins for recreational diving, but I found it difficult to back kick / helicopter turn in them due to their flexibility. They're also extremely long, I even had a bit of trouble getting them in my luggage when I flew to Cozumel. I have a couple dives with the Deep 6 fins and they are phenomenal. Neutrally buoyant (so they trim out really nice, for me at least), and plenty of power/stiffness for frog kick / back kick / etc.

I also tried Hollis F1s and Apeks RK3 HDs, but I found them to be far too negatively buoyant for me, at least in a wetsuit. I couldn't stay in trim since they were weighing my feet down so much. But I tend to be bottom heavy anyway so YMMV. The normal Apeks RK3s may be better for diving in a wetsuit.

I have both the F1 and Deep6 fins. The F1s are stiffer and will generate more thrust. But...you really need to have the leg power to take advantage of them. And, as others have said, they are HEAVY. You may very well find that they make your feet heavy in the water and make it hard for you to maintain a good horizontal trim. Although the Deep6 fins don't have quite as much thrust, they are still very adequate to move me with doubles and stages in current. And they are much lighter and trim better!

Dive Rite XT is good for open water too. i use hollis f1s for drysuit diving.

Deep 6 if you do a significant amount of penetration wreck diving. I currently have a pair of rk3s but they are merely ok.

quattros are ok, just not the best, i have a pair i used to use before i switched to the dive rites. haven't had a chance to try the zeagle recon yet.

Been using the Quattro's for many years now (well over 1000 dives on them). Prior to that I had the Power Plana's - liked them but when the Quattro's came out I found they were better in my dry suit. I have a brand new pair of Aqualung Slingshots hanging in my garage - got them as a gift. Once the Quattro's give up the ghost I will try the Slingshots. If I don't like them I will go back to Quattro's.
