Just use the disposables that way you know you have fresh and working hopcalite in there.
X542442 Lawrence Factor Air Filter

With a gas engine its not worth the risk to pack your own on a final filter needing/deserving hopcalite.

Putting it back in the box after use or maybe storing it (in the shop) with the box upside down on top of it is fine.

Don't forget a PMV

Thanks. I have quite a few pieces to get. Plan was to make a list and lay it out and come here for verification. I had a question though, should I have 2 PMV's, one after the compressor, then one after the tower...or just a check valve after the compressor, and then a PMV after the tower?

Just so anyone who's following, American Airworks actually quoted me ~ $54.xx for the AC-94505 (I'm not sue what shipping would be). Filter Techs is $80 after shipping.

Edit: I was wrong American Airworks is $85.64 as of this posting, so the place linked above is cheaper.

The PMV goes after the final tower.
Ideally there should be a check valve before the first tower.
Everything in between stays pressurized unless you open the drain (make sure there's a drain)

Realistically that's a 15,000 cf filter. so about 42 hours on the hour meter of runtime unless its colder out (<50F)

The tower comes with a bleeder built in. The large red cap is where it comes out. Supposed to be for condensate, but I'm not sure how much of that will actually get to that point. This should work to depressurize the tower, yeah?

Will have a check valve before, and PMV after.

what is upstream of this tower on that SA6? (it is a rix right?)

Yes Sir, it will be a Rix SA-6, it's coming in the mail today. I have not ordered any pieces for the plumbing at all. I wanted to get the tower and the compressor in hand before just buying more parts.

Does that answer your question?

Well, here she is. Just arrived on the truck. Here's some better pictures. I guess I'll start a new thread at some point. To me she looks almost brand new. IHas the 2 belts as opposed to just one. Not sure how to check manf. date, but it was services recently. Has the manual. Let me know what you think. Ended up paying $2400.

For better or worse, I'm now officially a compressor owner.:D

Are these like boats....2 best days, the day you bought it, and the day you sell it. Gosh I hope not.

sweet
So not really any filtration at all yet which means the X542442 is going to last MAX about 20,000cf and that's if you only run it when its cold out (45-50F) which is 55hrs

Realistically more like 40-45 hours. You will need some way to track hours

So I'm ignorant, take this with that in mind because I'm green. When you say no filtration are you taking into account that it's an oil less compressor? The Rix is supposed to produse grade E air exactly how it sits in the box. The only issue is that it's "wet", which is why I got the filter tower to remove any residual moisture.

The rix does have the 2 coalescers (or however you say that) on the side. They need to be bled every 10-15 min or so.

Are you saying that I need something more?

Based on rjack321's post you are only going to get you will only get about 200 dives from a filter. Seems like a pretty low cost to me.

All the pictures I've seen have them straight up and down,

There I've fixed it for you. Horizontal HP filters on a SA-6 who would have thought. LOL

I should add to avoid confusion that the green tubes are where two (2) sidewinder missiles fit
and the black tubes on the back of the frame are the where two (2) stainless moly sieve repack cartriges fit, just in case anyone gets confused with what goes where.
Seek and ye shall find.
