Teric Battery Drain - When OFF

The one in the light menu is quicker to access, I find it handy because I run mine on high and one push turns it off, next push its right back on high.
the manual hasn’t been updated since ‘18, some of the info is in the release notes. Using the manual (I don’t know if this is in there) can you use one of the sub-displays to show compass heading?

I also thought that AI and compass were off when it is in watch mode, but I cannot find that in the manual. I thought that the power consumption figures for AI (pg 72) and compass (pg 73) applied when it was in dive mode.

Before I had the battery replaced, mine would definitely go dead quicker when "light button" off than when "menu off". Difference was a few days VS a little over a week.
This does not resolve whether they are the same functionality though.....
I have a Qi charger that is recommended by shearwater website. I was not aware of aftermarket chargers ruining batteries.

I forgot to mention that OFF option in LIGHT (top-left) button is there only after you go to
Menu>Settings>Display>Brightness>Include Off and select "Yes" as explained on page 75/88 in Teric manual.
"Include Off This setting determines if OFF is available as an option when the LIGHT button is pressed. The battery life of the Teric is dramatically improved when “Off”. This is a convenient feature if you forget your Teric charger at home and are being judicious with battery consumption."
I tried both and didn’t see a difference.

The numbers mentioned are approximate numbers but they are right. It basically means the battery consumption is roughly 35% higher with AI and compass on than with both of these off.
So, there you go, "The computer is always ready to go diving no matter what and keeps everything running." This makes some sense to make sure you are ready to dive with the settings you want. Once, at the beginning of a trip, I forgot to turn AI on and did not have AI on my Teric for that dive. You cannot change that setting underwater and it was not important enough to me to surface to fix it. I've not made that mistake again.
Now, I must do a little experiment, charging my Teric now. Will check the battery consumption AI and compass off, AI on and compass off, AI off and compass on, both AI and compass on. What better do I have to do while I'm not diving?

I'm glad I'm right in my understanding of those OFF settings
...and somehow I get the feeling that you are going to do those battery consumption experiment.
