As Tibbs has already stated, this isn't true. Ali's are easy to get hold of in the UK and servicability is not an issue. I'm not sure where you got your info but it's wrong. You can even get CE approved AL80s from Germany that can be filled and tested in the UK without any problems.

*ahem* not true.
I think Japan is leading the field in patent applications ATM

I don't think they are. Your backup is on your buddys wrist.
Seems resonable. Put it in gauge mode and that's all you need.
Don't waste your money, you don't need them.

No you don't need a watch. Your backup is on your buddies wrist.
Having said that they're recommended on GUE courses for timing deco. You don't actually need one for that though either.

Well the answer to that is find a different club.
BSAC clubs are like clubs anywhere; there are some that are great and full of welcoming friendly divers and there are some that are full of idiots and dinosaurs. Don't be too put off as I'm sure you'll be able to find a club that fits your...
Sorry to have to tell you this Bren but Discos are a well known "Ladies Car", far too many creature comforts
Get youself something proper!
Absolutly, as long as it's a defender :irazz:

I had a Mares M1 which used the IRIS interface to download data to the PC. I found that it was very fussy about the position it was in relative to the IR reader. If it wasn't exactly right it would not be found by the IR reader and I'd get the timeout message.
It was also very sensative to...
No worries.
Oh I agree. I don't think he behaved well at all. If it had been me in that situation I would have had words with him :) Not always easy though I know.
The only point I was making is whilst there is no excuse for his behaviour it's important not to compare him to a...
It might be worth posting this on the BSAC forum. It would be interesting to get the viewpoint from a few other BSAC instructors.
I do think that the instructor concerned may not have acted in the best way possible. It is worth pointing out however, that unless this was being done through a...
If it's doing the same on all computers it's either your copy of the software, the Darwin or the IRIS unit itself.
Have you tried speaking to the shop you got it from?
Sorry I can't be more help.
Rob.
Checking in the Help/Information dialog my copy says...
Version 1.0.3
DLL Version 104
If yours isn't showing this then maybe it didn't install properly.
You might need to download the 1.0.3 setup files instead of just the patch and then uninstall and reinstall. You'll probably loose...
Try http://www.mares.com/iris.asp
I should probably have included it in my first post
It will take you up to 1.03 which is the version I'm running. Doesn't make any difference to the download stuff but may fix a few minor niggles.

Have you got the latest version of the IRIS program? There is a dowload page available to get the latest version if you haven't.
I don't have a problem with loosing the data currently held on the PC but there doesn't seem to be a way of not downloading certain dives.
