4 Dives over the weekend on North Carolina coast wrecks. U-352, Spar, Shurz, and Indra. U-352 and Shurz were the best dives with blue water, 60ft of vis, and bottom temps about 72 degrees! My first NC Coast dives and loved them!
This is a pretty interesting thread and I just finished my SSI Deep class and I remember last year in my OW class the depth limits being very vague, it was even something I questioned on the OW written exam. Right now my wife is taking her OW classes and she just did the exam last week and...
Thanks Dmainou, so far I have compared to other dive computers that buddies are wearing on dives and my Gekko is typically more conservative than the others. If I get the N2ition 3 I will wear them both for a couple of dives to compare. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks Firefyter, if I understand correctly the software basically converts your Gekko to the Vyper? Or another way to ask is when the software is running in Comm 1 (and I assume I need to get the Sunnto cable for the Vyper) and your Gekko is connected do you select "Vyper" or "Gekko" in the...
In addition the above I am also thinking about the Suunto Vyper, similar price, also a digital compass, and will fit into my Suunto console but I use my gekko on my wrist anyway. but my LDS has the Zeagle N2ition. So comparing.
If this thread is still active I am thinking of purchasing a N2ition 3. I currently have a Gekko but thinking that will be a great computer for my wife who is currently in OW classes and I am working on my AOW and like the fact that the N2ition has a digital compass. But one thing I hate about...
Sweet, what is the main difference? The real challenge at West Palm was the pretty strong north current. I was surprised on a couple of dives of just how fast it was. You could turn around completely and fin as hard as you could and still being going backwards at a pretty good clip. Is there...
Had three straight days of drift diving from Thursday through Saturday off West Palm Beach. It was a total sensory overload; everywhere I looked there was something to see on each dive, it was absolutely amazing. I am thoroughly addicted.
Thursday morning our first couples of dives were...
I typically try to purchase from my LDS, he trained me and we have spent A LOT of $$ there. However, if I find a particularly good deal online I will buy it unless he can match it or get close and sometimes he can't. I recently bought a Suunto Gekko online from a Canadian dive shop and it was...
I have new soft weights and haven't noticed any residual dust when rinsing off, I wonder if there are different qualities of soft weights and how they are manufactured. I got a pretty good deal at $2.85/lb for my weights because my LDS was getting rid of soft weights and opting to sell only...
If you are comfortable removing your regulator (you probably should be since you have done your check outs) remove it and swish a little water in your mouth and re-insert your regulator and blow the water and air through your regulator to purge it and that should help with the dry mouth. Scuba...
I am feeling like a Mac truck after calculating my SAC rate for the last few dives, yesterday in the quarry we had to come up after diving to see a school bus in the back wall of the quarry and "I" did not have enough air to make the swim back at the same depth to the entry point so we swam...
Just finished the SSI Nitrox class this week and we were taught to use the "Equivalent Depths - based on F02" tables (comes with the book in a separate table from the EANx dive tables and has the CNS clock on the back side, starts at 22% and goes up to 36% so kind of useless after that but good...
Interesting topic in a couple of ways because being newly certified I have noticed that I was taught to have my SPG/depth guage console coming around my right side and hooking onto a D ring around my right chest area. Then find everyone else doing almost exactly the opposite. I guess it is...
I would not have tipped a dime either and not been upset with them either, they provided a service that was paid for and did not do anything beyond what was expected for that service, maybe even a little less.
Precisely!
DC53, if you are a DAN member they offer some really good online seminars for free and at least one them that I did had a history of decompression theory. It was very interesting and to see all the fatalities that happened before we understood physically what was happening to our bodies, we owe...
I have broken down the spread sheet that Kraken sent and looked up other equations for the psi/min as well just so I have an understanding what they mean and not just plugging in numbers with no understanding of how to get to the SAC rate (with the help of Sam1's post in this thread as well)...
