Thanks for sharing the story with us.
I was in Hurghada back in the early '90 of the last century (sounds odd, doesn't it?) and while we had direct flights, it still had some of that way-off quality and just a few places to stay at, even if I had a/c in my room...
When I last saw the place...
I used Cressi's S111 before I decided to switch to you-know-what ( I'm actually still in progress of switching)
The jacket has a ton of lift ( 21kg, approx 46lbs) and the bladder is actually separated from the structure of the jacket. That means, that you're not tieing the bladder around your...
I hope you're ready for the answers you'll get!
The main advantage of a bp+w as opposed to (some of) the just-backinflate bcs is versatility. If you have a backplate, you can attach all kinds of different wings to the same plate depending on the conditions for your dive, this keeps cost and...
Well, wasn't that a trip worth remembering!
I'm still amazed over the response my post got. Thanks to all for taking me along for the dives.
Doug, those pictures are really worth more than a thousand words. I'm looking forward to the moment, when I get the video from Jim.
And the crowd...
Hello to Florida
I have a trip set up to Miami for this weekend, which means I'll be able to get in some u/w time on Friday p.m. and Saturday. And a chance to rent a b/p+wings for a try. looking forward to that!
The operators I called, said that conditions were a bit bumpy but the forecast...
I wouldn't want to bet my life on something like that. Do us all a favour and use a back-up for the first couple of hundred dives, dude!

Happy to hear nothing happened to you (and the other guy, for that matter).
I'm not sure how I'd act in your position, but believe I'm too much into helping others even if it puts me in a tight spot as well. (been there on other occasions...)
And him not even saying thanks is bad form...
Oh yes, ain't that true. :banghead:
I bought my equipment after a lot more than his 30 dives and still have the odd piece of equipement I could have done better on.

If you can't, that's what happened to me (the testing part), come back here and look...
Hey mods, do we already have an official SB jokster? (jokester? or whatever...)
I have a nominee: A_S_B
Eight jokes in just about a week. That's got to be some kind of a record 'round here!
Over here in Europe, many (or even most of the tanks I've seen) are hybrid. That means you can quickly convert them from yoke to DIN compatible, simply by removing a plug from the outlet.
I use DIN fittings and if I go to places where they use yokes, I have an adaptor.
