    married couples where one dives

I'd love to but it will NEVER EVER happen. After years of trying, I can now get her to snorkle as long as she has a boyancy device of some kind e.g. life preserver and I don't let go of her hand. It's too bad, she'd cost me very little in the way of air. She's so fit, I think she'd last a week...

Choosing a Caribbean Diving Destination- Rodales a good place to start?

In my opinion, Rodale's ratings depend on the traffic a specific DO or resort gets. Example-- on Curacao, you will see Habitat rated and perhaps another popular operator. There are many other smaller ops there which offer excellent service but don't get enough votes to qualify. You can go to...

    Trip to Cozumel in October

Like everything else, the answer depends on your preferences for $$ spend, afetr dive activities, etc. When in Coz, I stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental. I thought it was a great place to stay and the dive op is exceptional. But, it's not in town and it's not cheap ( about $200...

Maui for 10 days over thanksgiving

The Hyatt on Maui, if I remember correctly, is on Kaanapali beach. There is some shore diving of of the beach; the best of it is at the other end at the Sheraton; the site is called Black Rock. there's usually not much surf in the area but wear those booties; there is coral and a rocky entry...

    where to take her?

First-- Congrats! I've been trying to get my wife of the same age to try diving for years with no luck. Where to go depends on what you want to do. If diving is the main activity, I would agree to Bonaire. I've stayed at the Plaza Resort. Nice beach, good dive op. But, the island is not so...

    Honeymoon in Bonaire

Loved Bonaire and they take protecting their reef seriously. It's the only place I've been where divers are asked to demo their skills to an instructor before being allowed to dive. I stayed at the Plaza resort which was quite nice with huge rooms. Can't say anything about Buddy's. Enjoy!

    honeymoon suggestions

If you can supply a few more details, it would help to advise. Are you interested mostly in the quality of the diving, the beauty of the island, topside activities ( no pun intended ), restaurants, beauty of the beaches, apontments of the resorts??? Based on a few answers, I can be a bit more help.

    Anguilla diving

I just returned from Anguilla which is a great cavation destination. I had heard about Dougie Carty's Special D and arranged 3 days of diving with him. The guy is a class act and does know the island. One thing that suprised me in a positive sense. We had prearranged the dates I would be diving...

    Bottom Time

Bigger tanks= more air= maybe more bottom time. But bigger tanks have more weight for you to pull through the water and have a bigger profile which means more work. more work=more air=less bottom time. The best advice is to dive a lot, get very comfortable and breathe slowly and deeply. Also...

Do you guys ever get seasick?

Only once! My first boat dive after certification. Off the coast of Bermuda in what I remember as 4-5 foot seas. Everyone was hanging over the side and heaving. Once we got to the dive site, it was a scramble to get in the water so the world would stop rocking. hanen't gotten sick since but I...

    Recommendations

I'd suggest either Grand Cayman where there's lots of nice hotels along the beaches, a vast diversity of Dive Operators and great diving. Try Dive Tech on the more popular West Side or Ocean Frontiers on the less populated East Side. Bonaire is also a good choice; I'd suggest Toucan as a DO...

    Problem Equalizing

You might try beginning to equalize at the surface and evry few feet. It's sometimes easier if you don't let the pressure difference get to great.

    Honeymoon & diving

I can't say that my favorite dive spots in the Carib are the most romantic spots. Places like GCM and Coz which are great for diving, I haven't fount all that romantic. Neither were Curacao or Bonaire for that matter. There were some great spots in the VI both US and British, but they were only...

    PADI AOW - why?

I took the AOW course with DiveTech on GCM over two days about 18 months ago. Was it worth the cost?? Yes and no! The instructors on the two days were different as was their approach. One instructor really didn't bother instructing. We did the stuff we were supposed to and that was it. the...

    Scubapro Accent

I've been using the Accent for the last 2 years. Zero problems. It fits comfortably, is very easy to get into and out of. It's quite lite and easy to pack. Since I dive only in warm salt water, it has more than sufficient lift. Sounds like you can get a good deal- take it!
